About Dr. Richard Clark

Dr. Richard is a psychologist who has practiced as a clinician for over 35 years.  He has experience in the assessment and treatment of a range of adult conditions including anxiety, depression, panic, post-traumatic and other stress, traumatic brain injury (TBI). He is also experienced in general counselling and in the provision of strategies for the behavioural management of children.  He has been sought for expertise in neuropsychological assessment, medicolegal reporting and as an expert witness, but now chooses to work only as a clinician. 

Dr. Clark has also been instrumental in Australia in helping establish the regulated use of neurotherapy as an adjunct to more conventional pharmacological and psychological therapies, contributing to the development of clinical practice standards and the creation of a national accreditation authority (BCIA-A).

Richard is active as an academic and research scholar.  He is past Head of the School of Psychology at the Flinders University of South Australia and maintains status as Emeritus Professor.  He has published over 170 articles in peer-reviewed journals, books and other articles, and has contributed often to the media via radio, television and newspaper. He has been recognised internationally for his contributions to cognitive and affective neuroscience; and in the provision of some of the initial evidence of brain changes in many disorders of psychological function, including traumatic brain injury (TBI), PTSD, panic disorder, ADHD, anxiety, ASD and schizophrenia. Richard played a major role in developing one of the first international databases of brain function.

Emeritus Professor Clark has served on the National Executive of the Applied Neuroscience Society of Australasia, and on the Board of the Biofeedback Certification International Alliance of Australia. He has served as President of the Australasian Society for Psychophysiology and is a past Patron of the Brain Injury Network of South Australia.  He has reviewed for the Australian Research Council, the National Heath and Medical Research Council and for many scientific journals. He has been on the Editorial Board of the journal Clinical EEG & Neuroscience.  He is a Fellow of both the Applied Neuroscience Society of Australasia and the Academy of Social Sciences of Australia.

Dr. Clark offers counselling and therapy to adults affected by depression, general and social anxiety, fear, panic, stress, PTSD or TBI; also to adults with more general life management, workplace and/or relationship issues.
